YouTube Recommendations: Shameless Edition

I could talk about how YouTube and new media are a revolution in communication, but instead I'll try to summarize my favorite creators in one sentence.

Reviewers

FanboyFlicks: This subdued Canadian humorously describes terrible films, many of which you've probably never heard of.

I Hate Everything: Despite the dour British exterior, IHE manages to provide thoughtful criticism of questionable movies, video games, and cultural trends.

JonTronShow: One of my first loves of YouTube, JonTron has amassed a significant catalog of hilarious video game and film reviews with ever increasing production quality that make his uploads worth the wait.

ralphthemoviemaker: Ralph is a talented filmmaker with a sarcastic wit who reviews films, especially ones that deserve harsher criticism.

Sardonicast: This is a movie podcast with Ralph, IHE, and YMS that is too good for this world.

videogamedunkey: A remarkably creative video game reviewer that uses absurdism and satire to make his point far better than a literal review ever could.

YourMovieSucksDOTorg: The sharp witted YMS is the best movie reviewer I've seen, making incredibly entertaining and well-edited content from even the most terrible films.

Video Games

CarbotAnimations: If you play Blizzard games, Carbot's incredibly charming short animations deserve a watch.

Greyfoo: If you play World of Warcraft, Greyfoo's quirky WoW music videos are sure to please.

MOONMOON_OW: This is the highlights channel of the Greatest Variety Streamer in the world who live streams on twitch.tv/moonmoon_ow

Culture: YouTube & Memes

h3h3Productions & H3 Podcast: Ethan and Hila Klein have created a delightful comedy channel and high quality podcast together, further enhanced by Ethan's noticeable interviewing talent.

HoorayPerfect: If H3 is too tame for you, HoorayPerfect provides a crasser version of the YouTube comedy/discussion genre.

iDubbbzTV: From reviewing lame Kickstarter projects to unboxing terrible fanmail to criticizing big YouTube phenomenons, iDubbbz is unfailingly entertaining (and sarcastic).

PewDiePie: The biggest YouTuber has gravitated away from gaming, diversifying his content in ways that display his creativity and industry.

Philosophy & Politics

Armoured Skeptic: This beefy Canadian dons his metaphorical armor while blending animation, reaction, and discussion to create a charming way to delve into skepticism of religion and extremism.

Blaire White: If the concept of a right-leaning transgender YouTuber doesn't spark your interest, don't worry: she's an engaging and charming character that provides entertaining looks at her views on controversial topics.

Chris Ray Gun: If his self-deprecating humor doesn't pull you in, Chris Ray Gun's incisive and hilarious presentation of political and cultural topics surely will.

Jordan B Peterson: A modern phenomenon, Jordan Peterson is a fount of information and ideas that have moved countless people to pursue more responsible living.

Shoe0nHead: A tiny woman from New Jersey talking about feminism and memes in 480p is surprisingly one of the most entertaining things on political YouTube.

Other

Do Go On: The YouTube mirror of a fantastic comedic podcast, Do Go On unites three Aussie comedians as they explore every topic from embalming to psychopaths to Benjamin Franklin.

HowToBasic: An Australian's bizarre take on comedy that is to be seen more than explained.

TheOdd1sOut: This young animator tells stories from his life with charm and style.

You Suck At Cooking: This absurdist presentation of cooking leaves you with a smile and a song.
